Blogging on the Go

Only one long day left on our jeep tour. I’m looking forward to being in the same place for several nights.

We tried to go for a swim today in lake Bosomtwe but to say it was like a bathtub would be incorrect. The water temperature was more like that of a hot tub! It felt very odd. We realized that since the lake is rather shallow in the swimming area and all the source rivers/streams are warm, it should be expected that the lake is warm too. We just didn’t expect it to be that warm.

In a fancy chalet tonight, running water and at least at the moment electricity that doesn’t require a generator.

Guarding the car while Scott gets his hair cut and the driver, Fofo, runs out to tell Scott where we are parked.

Can someone lookup and email us the cost to use the swimming pool at the movenpick in Accra? We are thinking we’d like to swim and shower in the day we fly out. We don’t have reliable enough internet to look up their website.

A nice night at the Bobori forest eci lodge. I realized that if I think of Africa as camping then my expectations are more realistic. We had a nice spacious room that was advertised as a fan room. It did have a fan but it isn’t on the grid so we only had electricity for a few hours whilst the generator was running. Unfortunately no breeze meant a sticky night.

The hotel pool. All extra brown spots are where tiles are missing. Things would have been nice when they were new but have fallen to disrepair. This has been a general theme in this part of Africa. Hotel swimming pools are kind of dumb. Most of the locals don’t swim (their religious belief involve water spirits such that many won’t go near the water), and the pool water is too warm to be refreshing.

Might have random bits of Internet but don’t expect to have reliable access over the next week. At least until we get back to Accra on June 9.
